Drive out of Chiang Rai to Mae Chan district and continue uphill to vistit simple Akha and Yao Hill tribe villages. The akha, originated in Tibet, and the Yao originated in China These people are heavily influenced by Chinese traditions, still using Chinese characters in the writing off their language. |

We visit a hill top viewpoint, above the junction of the Mekong and Ruak Rivers, which forms a three-way border with Laos. Burma and Thailand, Continue to Mae Sai, the northernmost point of Thailand, to observe border life and explore the market for exotic goods. |
